SUMMARY OR ABSTRACT
Text of Note
There are almost no archived documents on the first two hundred year history of the Ottoman Empire. There are also no documents that survived to date relating to the empire's birth. They started writing Ottoman history during Murad II ruling. It has developed during Mehmed II's reign and reached its zenith during the ruling of Bayezid II.The custom of keeping history shone the brightest during Mehmed II's son Bayezid II's reign. We withness history books aimed at the elite as well as the layman. They were written in simple language, respectively. The authors of these history books can be known or unknown. The books start from the beginning of the empire up to the time it was written. Works of famous historians Ashik Pasha-zade, Neshri and Urudj as well as works of anonymous historians whose copies can be found in many libraries abroad have been written during the reign of Bayezid II. Judging from the number of copies, it is safe to say these books were best sellers. The history book we are about to write a thesis on is different from all other anonymous history books in that it gives us its sources. The author has an eclectic style in that he choose to blend six different works into a book instead of taking one work as a model in the anonymous.
