Alişanzade İsmail Hakkı (ʿĀlīşānzāde İsmāʿīl Ḥaqqı) (Eldem) (1287-1363/1871-1944), a Ottoman Turkish author and diplomat, graduated from the Mekteb-i Mülkiye (School of Civil Service) around 1307/1890. His first published work (1303/1886) was a translation from Voltaire. His Müntehabat-ı teracim-i meşahir (Müntekhabāt-ı terācim-i meşāhīr , "Selection of famous biographies"), published in 1307/1890, was followed by his first collection of poems, Sevda-yı hazan yahud tahassür (Sevdā-yı khazān yākhud taḥassür , "Autumn love or longing"), and three booklets devoted to three contemporary authors,
