ʿAbdallāh b. Mūsā b. Nuṣayr , the eldest son of Mūsā b. Nuṣayr (d. 98/716-7), the governor of Ifrīqiya (79-95/698-714) and conqueror of al-Andalus, is first mentioned in the chronicles as commander of a contingent that came from Egypt to reinforce Mūsā's troops in the year 83/702. In 85/704 Mūsā planned an expedition by sea to attack various Mediterranean islands (it seems to have been Sicily that was attacked, although it is sometimes claimed that ʿAbdallāh also conquered Sardinia and Majorca).
