Ibn Baydakīn , who was active shortly after the year 700/1300-1, is the author of two treatises, Kitāb al-lumaʿ fī l-ḥawādith wa-l-bidaʿ and Risāla fī l-futuwwa , both of which belong to the genre of works on novelties and innovations (ḥawādith wa-bidaʿ) . His full name was Idrīs b. Baydakīn b. ʿAbdallāh al-Turkumānī. Few details are known about his life but it is known he wrote the Kitāb al-lumaʿ while residing in Mecca.
