Abū Bakr ʿAbdallāh b. Muḥammad Ibn Abī Shayba al-ʿAbsī (d. 235/849) was a prominent Sunnī ḥadīth scholar who lived most of his life in Kufa. His grandfather was a qāḍī (judge) in Wāsiṭ (Iraq), his father was a qāḍī in Fārs province (Iran), and his brother ʿUthmān (d. 239/853-4) was a respected ḥadīth scholar.
