Ḥamīd al-Dīn Farāhī (1863-1930) was an Indian scholar of Arabic best known for his writings on the niẓām (broad structural and thematic order) of the Qurʾān. 1. Life He was born at Pharīhā, near Azamgarh, India to a family of zamīndār s (landowners, but, before British rule, specifically landholders responsible for revenue collection) and vakīls (attorneys) who were also scholars of Arabic and Persian.
