The art and architecture of the Arabian Peninsula reflect a cultural continuum from antiquity to Islamic times. In antiquity, both the traffic in frankincense and the trade routes to India, the Far East, East Africa, and the Mediterranean connected the Arabian Peninsula to the wider ancient world, giving its people access to all kinds of luxury items and cultural influences from distant lands.
