Abū Saʿd Naṣr b. Yaʿqūb al-Dīnawarī (d. after 400/1010) was an adīb (litterateur) and kātib (secretary) to the Ghaznavid ruler Yamīn al-Dawla Maḥmūd al-Ghaznawī (r. 388-421/998-1030). He resided in Nīshāpūr as a government functionary. He is the author of a number of lost adab works including: Rawāʾiʿ al-tawjīhāt min badāʾiʿ al-tashbīhāt ("Wondrous instructions from novel similes"), Thimār al-uns fī tashbīhāt al-Furs ("The fruits of delight on Persian similes"), Ḥuqqat al-jawāhir fī l-mafākhir ("The jewel box of glorious
