Adile Sultan (ʿĀdile Sulṭān, 1241-1316/1826-99), daughter of Sultan Mahmud II (Sulṭān Maḥmūd II) and Zernigar (Zernigār) Hanım, was a renowned Ottoman poet, whose divan ( dīvān) gave her a unique place among the women of the Ottoman dynasty. Adile Sultan was highly educated, having been given private lessons in religion, literature, and calligraphy by famous teachers of her time.
