Abdul Kadir Semarang (d. late nineteenth century) was one of the most prominent Naqshbandī shaykh s of the 1880s in Java. He was born in Semarang, in Central Java, and studied in Mecca with Sulaymān al-Zuhdī, a prominent shaykh of the Naqshbandiyya-Khālidiyya, who is better known in Indonesia as Syaikh Jabal Abu Qubais. In 1878-9, Abdul Kadir received his ijāza from his teacher and was named khalifa of the Naqshbandiyya-Khālidiyya for Central Java. After his return to Java around 1880, Abdul Kadir attracted a large following
