SUMMARY OR ABSTRACT
Text of Note
The lexical approach develops current thinking, synthesizing the best insights of previous theory, corpus linguistics, discourse analysis, and modern approaches to grammar. The principal assertions of this book are that: the grammar/vocabulary dichotomy is inavlid; collocation is useful as an organising principle; successful language is a wider concept than accurate language; the observe-hypothesise-experiment cycle replaces the present-practise-produce paradigm; and that language consists of grammaticalised lexis - not lexicalised grammar. --book cover.
