There has been considerable media interest in forensic science over the past decade as well as an increasing number of academic courses offered in the field. Focusing on assuring ongoing workplace competence of forensic scientists, this book develops the principles on which to base an assurance procedure and provides examples of its use in various circumstances. It describes standards of competence and demonstrates how such standards can be implemented into training and education programs. Details of the newly created Council for the Registration of Forensic Practitioners are also discussed. Suggesting uniform assessment strategies, it also describes international accreditation programs.
