SUMMARY OR ABSTRACT
Text of Note
"Bridge Deck Analysis offers a comprehensive explanation of the grillage analogy, giving both theoretical background and practical guidance for application of the method. The upstand grillage analogy is considered in some detail and the conditions under which it can generate erroneous results are highlighted and explained. The finite element method is also considered in great detail, but with an emphasis on its application rather than on its theoretical background. A chapter is dedicated to the practical analysis problems associated with integral bridges and the quantification of associated ground stiffnesses. The text contains a large number of worked examples and includes a chapter introducing the reader to the subject by means of moment distribution."--Jacket.
