SUMMARY OR ABSTRACT
Text of Note
Environmental assessment is a vital environmental management tool which is able to identify, predict and evaluate the potential biological, physical, social and health effects effects of a project on its surrounding environment. Environmental Assessment plays a crucial role in environmental protection and is used in development planning worldwide by government agencies, companies and other organisations.; There is now a great need for information and instruction on how to conduct an environmental assessment study. This book explains what constitutes good practice in applying environmental assessment as an environmental management tool. A wide range of international case studies are used by the authors to demonstrate how the different methods, techniques and disciplines of environmental assessment can be used in practice. The authors address the key concepts for environmental assessment procedures: methods for using E.A.; techniques for impact prediction and evaluation; environmental risk assessment; EA consultation and participation; project management; environmental statement review and post-project analysis; and strategic environmental assessment.; Growing environmental awareness and increasing public concerns over the impacts of developments on biophysical systems have made the use of environmental assessment systems invaluable. This book gives a comprehensive coverage of the subject and will be invaluable to practitioners and students alike.
