SUMMARY OR ABSTRACT
Text of Note
From the Introduction: This monograph addresses three key areas of concern to students of the Canadian capital markets. First, it describes the operation of Canada's capital markets, with special emphasis on the types of securities traded, the trading mechanisms, and the factors which, over the last three decades, have influenced security returns...Second, because investors price securities with a view to obtaining reasonable risk-adjusted after-tax returns, the monograph outlines the tax environment in Canada from 1949-87...Third, the monograph describes the results of a thorough study of Canadian capital market returns over the period 1950-87 using portions of the TSE/WEstern Database. This database is located at the University of Western Ontario School of Business and has been developed jointly by the School of Business and the Toronto Stock Exchange.
