Fourteen-year-old Julie starts crying on Monday when things go badly at school. Things are bad at home, with an alcoholic father and a mother beginning to lash out in frustration. Things soon get worse when Julie's mother fails to pick her and brother Toby up from school. She is told there has been an accident, but something more is wrong.
