SUMMARY OR ABSTRACT
Text of Note
This book is an exploration into ethical tensions that new technology creates, with a particular focus on agricultural biotechnology and genetically modified (GM) food. There are four main arenas where new technologies generally, and agricultural biotechnology in particular, create ethical tensions, fault lines and pressure points. These are: public opinion and public interest; policy and regulation; technological fix criticism; and the interaction between new and old technologies. The first four parts of this book correspond to each of these four arenas. A fifth section contains one chapter that provides insights into mediating ethical tensions arising from new technology adoption. The book has 12 chapters and a subject index
