"What's in AM GOV? . . . And What's New About AM GOV? AM GOV was created with one simple premise in mind: Students will learn only if the content is engaging and current, if the design is visually attractive, and if the price is affordable. With this premise in mind, we, the authors, set out to discover from you-students and faculty-how best to create a program that students would read and faculty would eagerly assign. We interviewed dozens of faculty and hundreds of students at colleges throughout the country. Students told us they wanted resources with innovative visual appeal, interactive digital technology, an integrated approach, and relevant content designed according to the way they learn. Instructors told us they wanted a way to engage their students without compromising on high-quality content. We listened. The result is AM GOV, an American government program that started a revolution. Our goal in AM GOV is to engage students in the story of people's relationship to government and how an active and informed citizenry is essential in making democracy meaningful. We want students to recognize how their choices about government affect their lives"--
