SUMMARY OR ABSTRACT
Text of Note
One day after the death of Palestinian leader Yasir Arafat, Bush used his joint press conference with Britain's visiting prime minister, Tony Blair, to restate his "vision" of a "just and peaceful resolution" of the Arab-Israeli conflict. Of note relative to earlier such statements is the focus on Palestinian democratization as the key to statehood and the absence of any reference to any Israeli obligation or responsibility in the achievement of peace beyond "helping the Palestinian democracy to grow."
