This project will use the event history analysis like new nationalist movement, student and political movements in late nineteen sixties to investigate the Bengali nationalism and the decomposition of Pakistan in 1971. Nationalism and nationhood are not the outcomes of a static ethnicity but are contingent product of nation-state era. This dissertation will also investigate the reasons of the decomposition of Pakistan in 1971 and the role of India in this historical juncture and the emergence of Bangladesh with a new nationalist identity.
