SUMMARY OR ABSTRACT
Text of Note
Since its recent successful isolation, graphene has attracted an enormous amount of scientific interest due to its exceptional physical properties. Graphene incorporation can improve electrical and mechanical properties of polymers including polyethylene (PE). However, the hydrophobic nature and low polarity of PE have made effective dispersion of nano-fillers difficult without compatibilization. In this report, chlorinated polyethylene (25% chlorine content) was used as a compatibilizer and amine functionalized graphene oxide as a nano-filler to prepare polyethylene-graphene nanocomposites with enhanced mechanical, thermal and electrical properties. Different weight percentage of AGO was used to prepare the nanocomposites (0.5 wt. %, (0.5 wt. %, 1.0 wt. %, 1.5 wt. %, 3.0 wt. %, 5.0 wt. %). The characterization methods showed that the results were relatively the best when AGO content was 3.0 wt. %.
