In certain cardiac diseases, such as dilative cardiomyopathy, the occurrence of ventricular arrhythmias may be related directly to the underlying heart disease, as the frequency and severity (Lown classifica- tion) of ventricular ectopics are not related to left ventricular impair- ment.
