Tagare, who started and runs the first capacity manufacturing company in India, contends that the search for new sources of electricity is changing both the shape and the behavior of the electricity industry after a long period of stagnation under monopolistic control. He describes the changes and how the existing producers are trying to adapt to them, beginning with a history of the electricity business.
