The purpose of this book is to help one develop one's own eye for color. The color palettes throughout the book were extracted from the works of master artists. Provides CMYK breakdowns for printing, RGB for multimedia, and color swatches
The book presents a unique, easy-to-follow system that the author developed to create effective colour patterns, which differentiates it from the standard index-style books on the market that provide colour combinations without placing those combinations in context. In every spread, the author presents the work of a designer or painter and breaks down its colour palette, providing colour squares as well as details of the art is it's inspiration for his or her use of colour. Each chapter opener is a perforated page of colour squares relevant to that chapter. Readers can tear out the colour squares or replicate them with Pantone chips or Photoshop printouts and place them on to cards, creating their own personal colour indexes.
