biopsychological theory of temperament and character and using the character and temperament Inventory Revised (TCI-R) 45 major depression people were compared with normal. The results showed that depressive symptoms are dimensional and have two factor structure. Also there was significant difference between depressed and normal people in Harm Avoidance and Self-directedness and no difference between Novelty Seeking, Reward Dependence, Persistence,Cooperativeness and Self-transcendence.Key words: major depression, dimensional structure, personality sبtaxometrics methods were used.
