.The sun is the main source of all of energy in the climate system. It is clear that changes in the output of the sun can affect earth's climate conditions. Variability of climatic factors such as rainfall, temperature and drought are the most significant features of the global climate. The major changes in the atmospheric general circulation are affected by the sun. Iran has located in the arid and semi-arid region of the world which experiences severe rainfall fluctuations. Iran's drought characteristics show that, any area of the country is not immune to this phenomenon and it affects different locations with different scales. In this study, by using two climatic indices of SPI and RDI indices and using the continuous and cross wavelet analysis of data in relation to sunspot activities the occurrences of drought years in the eight stations of Iran (located in the central and southern regions) were examined. The results indicated a significant negative correlation between sunspot and drought years cycles in the selected stations.It was found that significant periodic fluctuations include 7, 8, 11 and 22 years cycles during drought cycles (positive and negative year cycles).
