#In the wake of the past two world wars , indigenous govern ments were formed in northern Iran . These governments opposed the existing goverment in Tehran, and were provided with diplomatic and material aid from the Soviet Union. This study is a historical analysis of the similarities and dissimilarities in the causes , development, and effects of these revolutions Using a comparative historical method, this disseration examines these crises as part of Iran's continuing struggle to achive an independent foreign policy and a democratic from of goverment . Each revolution occurred in a domestic context as well as an international one; this study integrates the two and shows their interdependency.
