ژئوفیزیک مخزن علمی است که به بررسی خواص فیزیکی مخزن نفتی از جمله خواص الاستیکی سنگ و سیال مخزن می‌پردازد .به دلیل عدم دسترسی مستقیم به مخزن نفتی، متخصصان قادر نیستند تغییرات به وجود آمده هنگام اجرای روشهای ازدیاد برداشت را به طور مستقیم مشاهده نمایند .از طرفی، پایش مخزن هنگام انجام عملیات ازدیاد برداشت به دلیل نیاز به مدل‌سازی مخزن در هر مرحله زمانی امری مهم و ضروری می‌باشد .
Reservoir geophysics is a science which investigates the physical properties of reservoir including density and elastic properties like bulk modulus of reservoir rock and fluid. Because of the lack of straight accessibility to all parts of reservoir, experts are not able to observe the changes occurring as a result of EOR methods. On the other hand, monitoring of the reservoir during EOR methods has a high importance due to the modeling of reservoir in each step of reservoir life.
