The three volumes of Émile Jaques-Dalcroze's (1865-1950) and Nina Gorter's (1866-1922) Les gammes et les tonalités, le phrasé et les nuances (1906-7) contain a variety of materials used in early Dalcroze eurhythmics practice to cultivate a broad set of singing and listening skills, including fluency with musical rudiments. The depth and breadth of Les gammes's materials then overlaps with the disciplines of musicology, music theory, and histories of music theory. Even so, Les gammes remains absent from this literature.
