In this contribution, long time missionary to Suriname, Joop Vemooij, presents an overview of Winti, a religion rooted in the complex culture of Surinam. After presenting a short history of the religion, Vernooij outlines some of its principal elements, and then presents a pastoral reflection on how Christians need to deal with practitioners of this religion in Surinam itself, and in the Netherlands, where some 300,000 Surinamese live today.
