Īraj Mīrzā (b. 1873 in Tabriz, d. 1926 in Tehran), was an Iranian poet of the late Qājār period-the Qājārs ruled Iran from 1795 to 1925-known to literary history as the Iranian "awakening and enlightenment" era. A descendant of Fatḥ ʿAlī Shāh, the second Qājār king (r. 1797-1834), he received the title of Jalāl al-Mamālik ("Glory of the lands"). His early poetic talent earned him protection and support from Ḥasan ʿAlī Khān Garrūsī (d. 1900), known as Amīr Niẓām, a high dignitary of the Qājār court,
