Qurrat al-ʿAyn Ḥaydar (Qurratulain Hyder; b. Aligarh 1927, d. New Delhi 2007) was a prominent and prolific writer of Urdu prose. She was born into a well-educated family: her parents were writers: her father, Sajjad Hayder Yildirim (Sajjād Ḥaydar Yildirim, d. 1943), was a well-known translator and a writer of short stories and articles, and her mother, Nazar Sajjad Hayder (Naẓar Sajjād Ḥaydar, d. 1967), wrote several short stories and novels that earned her fame at an early age.
