This dissertation examines the beginning of spiritual formation through an examination of the metaphorical circumcision of the heart in Deuteronomy 30:6. Arguing identity as a Christian is more than just a nominal profession, this research examines God's Word in an effort to better understand the beginning of spiritual formation. The goal of spiritual formation in the Christian is to make the believer more Christ-like. Deuteronomy informs that God will circumcise the hearts of His people. This circumcision will provide the ability to love Him and obey Him fully.
