For over 100 years the people of Tana Toraja have experienced growing challenges to their traditional identity as a distinct social entity. They had long struggled with their neighbors over incursion into Toraja land and culture; the Toraja people have been pressed to redefined themselves in term of a wider identity associated with global distinctives and worldwide trends.
