German geologists have used detailed lithostratigrapahical observations and area-wide, closely spaced structural measurements to obtain a much more detailed depiction of the highly variable lithological assemblage, as well as of the complex structural evolution. The new 1:25,000 map is contained on the disk. The text discusses the general petrography of mapped lithological units, lithostratigraphy and indications for primary associations in the Cycladic blueschist unit on Syros, and Syros as an example of the structural evolution of the Cycladic Blueschist unit.
